Zone
Time:
Each of the twenty four areas in which the Earth is
divided to measure time. Each hour zone is centered
on a line separated by a longitude of 15 degrees from
the following one. The time in each zone has a difference
of one hour with respect to the zone next to it as the
Earth rotates 15 degrees on the hour. The system begins
with the zone centered on the line measuring 0°
longitude (the meridian of Greenwich). Time increases
one hour for each zone to the East of Greenwich and
decreases one hour toward the West, until a day is gained
or lost at the date change line.
